About Me

Marina Koizumi
student
I am a graduate student at Waseda University, majoring in Architecture in the Graduate School of Creative Science and Engineering, under Professors Makoto Furuya and Tomoyuki Tanaka. My research focuses on the formation factors of informal housing in cemeteries, with a case study of Manila North Cemetery in the Philippines, for which I received the 2024 Outstanding Thesis Award. I have exhibited and led several architectural exhibitions and achieved top rankings in design critiques, including 1st place for "Salaryman Theater" and "Hyper Singapore." My graduation project "Kabukicho Complex" received the Waseda Silver Award and top prize at the volunteer Graduation Design Exhibition 2025. Outside academia, I have been actively involved in renovation projects through DaBo, winning awards such as the Jury Prize at the Tokyo Architecture Collection 2025. I have also held a solo exhibition in Hakone and continue to lead major student renovation initiatives.
